HEARING AIDS AND SERVICES IN BERKHAMSTED,
KINGS LANGLEY AND RICKMANSWORTH
Halo Hearing Solutions opened to the public in March 2017. The Business is owned and run by husband and wife Ray & Julia Mead who live in the quiet village of Bovingdon.
Ray explains that the company’s mission is “to provide the highest standards of hearing care expertise to our local community, whilst still offering a professional and personal service that is second to none” They feel they will be able to achieve this by offering the best advice and information for each client depending on their individual needs, whether that’s by finding suitable hearing aids, Wax removal, Noise protection or even swim moulds then Halo Hearing Solutions will be able to look after you regardless of what you need.
Ray Is a qualified hearing aid audiologist, authorised to practise by the Health care professions council. Up until starting this new venture Ray was working for a well-known national hearing company managing one of the companies busiest branches in Chelmsford in Essex, whilst also doing home visits in Herts and Bucks as and when needed.
His ultimate ambition has always been to open his own Hearing centre, but he realised that firstly he needed to gain suitable experience and knowledge to be able to offer complete hearing care solutions into his own community close to where he lives in Bovingdon.
After many discussions and meetings Ray & Julia managed to secure a lease on a shop just off the high street at 3 Lower Kings Road in Berkhamsted, they feel the shop is “in a perfect location for our clientele and will offer a comfortable and pleasurable experience for those people in need of any hearing health care they may require”. They have also agreed to offer outside clinics based in the Kings Langley opticians on the high street in Kings Langley and Delite Chemist on the busy Money Hill parade in Rickmansworth. Ray has personally been using the Kings Langley Opticians since he was 16 and previously worked in Delite chemist as a school boy, so ultimately knows both businesses very well. He goes on to explain “These partners are fully aware of the quality personal service we are trying to achieve and as they already offer this in abundance to their own clientele we all felt these would be ideal partnerships for all sides moving forward”.
Prior to opening the business Ray’s own personal experience combined with further research led him to the following conclusions.
A high number of purpose built hearing centres are predominantly owned by national companies and these companies are in turn owned by the larger hearing aid manufacturers. These companies are therefore set up to sell the parent company’s products rather than offering a full range of products from different manufacturers. Although Ray does believe that being a specialist in a few products is far more important then becoming a master of none, it’s still very important to be aware of the limitations of different manufacturers products and although one manufacturer may be suitable for one type of hearing loss, another may be more suitable for a different kind of loss! Having independence means that they can pick and choose the right product for each client depending on their needs and preference.
Both Ray & Julia also feel that local community spirit is also essential to building a successful partnership with their clients, the larger national hearing aid companies have no allegiance to the local community and most what they do is based around national advertising to get people through the door so a product can be sold to them. Building a local business in the community where you live is totally different, “we live and breathe the area the same as the people we look after. It is therefore essential that we provide a product and service that is second to none in the areas that we cover”.
Ray genuinely feels that the business model should fit and work around the clients that they see, he explains “if a client wants to come to the main branch in Berkhamsted, the opticians in Kings Langley, the Chemist in Rickmansworth or would alternatively prefer that we come to your own home in your environment then that’s fine by us”. He goes on to say “The client is always key, a superb level of service and commitment to our clients is one of the most important aspects of our business and we believe will be a big part of our success moving forward”.
